Scroll down for all questions.  These are direct quotes from last year’s students.

What have you learned about yourself this week?
  • I had an answer 4 this one but I forgot
  • I learned that I am a good actor.  I have learned that I might want to pursue acting as a career.
  • Listening, interested in expanding into different areas of theatre, enjoy ensemble building activities
  • I need to be more accepting of projects and ideas, dismissing them only upon completion as being dumb or obnoxious
  • That there is always room for improvement and learn from everyone
  • blank
  • Better focusing
  • I learned that I can improve
  • I am glad to have chose to come here & that I can be determined even if I am not food at something.  Also that having the classes and experience makes me know what I really want to do.
  • That I am a long way from being a good actor but I want to work on becoming one.  And that I am truly a theatre geek.
  • The range of my emotions is limited in certain ways and I discovered that.  I also learned about how much I want theatre to be in my life
  • I need to put more effort into things if I want to be really good at it.
  • I learned that never to be shy and to sell what you’ve got with no fear.  Also, to audition and work hard towards your goal.
  • I don’t want to be a professional actor but the acting business would be fun to explore.
  • I learned that when I go to camps, I lock away my crazy self.  I’m normally super crazy with my friends and family, but I don’t know my crazy side to people at camps.  But I’ve found that people embrace their crazy side at camps, and I just need to relax, be myself and not worry about being judged by other people.

What  have you learned about the craft of theatre?
  • Harder than it looks
  • I have learned that many different types of acting.  For example, stage theatre, movies, radio, and voice over.  I have also learn the business of acting.
  • I learned to be a better listener and actor in general.  I also learned a lot about different jobs in theatre.  I have learned how to be a better actor in a lot of different ways.  I learned to read the thought, not the line.  And many more things…
  • Definitely how to use your voice to communicate much more content and emotion than I did before.  Also, I learnedc how to say slimy, slimy things (PSAs, commercials) with a smile.
  • I learned a lot more
  • A lot
  • I learned that it is not only the actors on the stage but also the space between them
  • Better posture for performance
  • I learned a lot of things
  • I have to say I am not ure, but I honestly learned very much and also ones not expected.
  • It’s much harder than it looks and you have to believe in what you’re saying.  You have to believe it’s real.
  • Tens.  Every little bit I took notes on and it was all useful.  It would be hard to get into details when I went to my performance during the week; I really felt like what I had learned helped me and enriched my time on stage.
  • There’s more to learn than one would think
  • You do not need an agent for Seattle theatre.  Also that theatre is much more personal than film, however it can be very taxing
  • I learned exactly what producers, technicians, and stage hands do.
  • Embrace the cheese, audition, you can say no to a play, don’t be shy, be the character, don’t pretend to be the character

What could we have added to make it even better?
  • more audition classes
  • Maybe some more pool time, but I understand why we don’t have more pool.
  • More dancing/movement and singing.  More audition classes.  More acting class.
  • Stage combat!  Seriously though, the instructors were great and the two ICTF workshop guest-speakers should definitely be asked to come back, that was a very useful class.
  • I like it the way it is.
  • I think the stage combat would have been fun
  • More food!
  • More activities between classes
  • Nor really sure
  • More days, more places, bigger production?
  • I would have liked some more classes on Shakespeare and scene work
  • T-shirts for everyone
  • I realy can’t think of anything.  I liked it how it was.
  • Combat training.  Surfing (ha ha)
  • More classes on stuff other than acting.
  • I think it would be great if you could give us t-shirts that say Drama camp or Theatre camp.  I never had a dancing class.  I believe a handful of people had a dancing calss, but if you had everyone go to the class…. It could be about the importance of dancing or you could actualy teach us different steps of different kinds of dances.  Just something involving acting and dancing.

What was your favorite moment about camp?
  • every single one!
  • Doing the voice over work
  • Voice-over class because it was informative and new.  I also enjoyed dancing.  Asking instructors questions.  Studying and learning from such talented and experienced instructors
  • The stick exercise where you tried to maintain the distance between actors.
  • EVERYTHING!
  • the party
  • I really liked the workshop a lot.
  • everything
  • blank
  • Each class is different and the extra activities were great, nothing was a waste.
  • Dancing in Canyon Wren during free time and working with blank scripts.
  • Making friends, the classes that actively involved us and the masterclasses with the professionals
  • It was all fun, but I liked playing murder in Canyon Wren most of all.
  • Getting inspired by music
  • There were a lot.
  • Okay.  My favorite moment needs an introduction.  I don’t dance.  I’m uncomfortable dancing, I feel like a fake, and I just don’t dance.  My favorite moment was Friday night, at the party.  We had finished capture the flag and everyone was have a “dance party” on the stage.  I chose that moment to go to the bathroom, ‘cus I don’t dance.  When I got back, however, it was just a handful of people up on stage dancing.  Everyone else was milling around talking, playing frisbee, or eating ice cream.  And I got up on the stage and started dancing with the people up there.  That shows how much I relaxed at this camp, how much I, in a way, bonded with all the people at camp that I was able to dance with some of them, and not care that the others could be, and probably were, watching.  You should treat that as the equivalent to a planet being discovered because I do not dance.  That was my favorite moment.
