Facilities

The Festival takes place at Icicle Creek Music Center and Sleeping Lady Mountain Retreat in the Cascade Mountains, just outside Leavenworth, Washington. Actors, directors, dramaturgs, designers and playwrights currently receive housing in the Music Center’s large and modern cabins.

FIRST-CLASS LODGING, MEALS, AND RESORT FACILITIES

ICTF facilities are superb and second to none. Each ultra-modern cabin has very comfortable beds, Air Conditioning, a private bathroom, and daily maid service. Wireless Internet and telephones are provided. Each cabin can easily accommodate four people. Cabins offer spectacular views of the surrounding mountains as well. Facilities just yards away include a swimming pool, a sauna, an exercise room, and The Grotto Bar, an evening gathering place around a rocky fire pit where one can relax over wine, beer, spirits and soft drinks. Meals or per diem are provided to participating artists. Rehearsals, performances, workshops, and meals are currently conducted at Canyon Wren Recital Hall, a few yards from the cabins.

The Festival, in one respect, is a retreat for playwrights and actors, and one of the secrets to successful retreats is creating an environment that takes one out of the ordinary and into a creative and expressive frame of mind. Icicle Creek and Sleeping Lady have created just this environment; their shared campus has been built to blend with nature. Participants may look out any window or walk any path, to be inspired by birdsong, the incense of pine trees, the resident deer population, and other natural delights.

Our facility offers access to 67 pine forested acres beside the pristine Icicle River and beneath the Sleeping Lady mountain profile. Enjoy the nature trails, the wild flowers and birds, the scenic beauty of the mountains, or relax in the grotto pool and hot tub. Evenings, there are stars by the millions.

There are many spectacular recreational opportunities in the beautiful North Central Cascades: precipitous mountain slopes, spectacular rushing water, abundant wildlife and abundant foliage provide a dramatic setting. The property and adjacent forested Fish and Wildlife lands provide quiet places for reflection and private picnics, trails to wander, and Icicle Creek to enjoy.

Other opportunities at our doorstep include Mountain and Road Biking, Whitewater Rafting on the Wenatchee River (Class III), Scenic Float (tubing) trips on the upper Wenatchee, an endless variety of hiking trails in the surrounding Wenatchee National Forest that includes the spectacular Alpine Lakes Wilderness, Trout Fishing in the mountain lakes, Horseback Riding within walking distance, and golf.
